Here are most common mistakes to avoid if you really like to direct an awesome movie with your iPhone and Silent Film Director App
Starting to shoot a movie with no idea what to capture
- Don’t just shoot anything you see around. Of course there are exceptions, but a view from the window of your car or your backyard or your sister jumping on the trampoline may not always attract public, unless your sister jumped from a window of your car right on the trampoline in your backyard and you managed to film that.
Starting to shoot a movie without a script/scenario
- This hint is similar to the one above. Before shooting a video, take a moment and think what it should be about. Out of 100 videos we get around 50 show dogs, cats, hamsters and other pets; 30 videos are about little kids (running, eating, laughing, jumping, etc); other 15 are videos of people making faces in front of the camera and only 5 videos out of 100 are interesting enough to get featured. You know why? Cuz people who created these video planned the plot and prepared a good scenario. We bet you are one of those 5%.
Small or no attention to soundtrack
- Silent Film Director App lets you choose from the default soundtracks and also pick music from your iPod or computer. When you choose soundtrack to your video, get the one which depicts the character of the film. Choose playful music for comedy, and maybe some slower composition for the drama. A good idea is to test your video with different soundtracks.
Making a video too long
- You are sharing the video online and most of people online get bored with videos longer than 3 minutes. Try to make your story short, but substantial. As they say: Brevity is the soul of wit
No promotion
- So you have a movie. Now comes the toughest part – people should see it. When your video get featured in our Show Time Gallery, you will get around 5000 weekly views and if it is good enough you can get up to 50 000 views. We will also post your video on our Facebook Page and share the link on Twitter. But you should also take some time and promote your video. First of all this will bring more attention to your masterpiece, second you’ll get a chance to win awesome prizes. If your video gets more than 100 likes on Facebook, you will get $10 iTunes Card from us. And if your video gets most likes on our Facebook page, you’ll get additional $10 iTunes Card.
